The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Wednesday that pace sensation Shaheen Shah Afridi has been appointed as the vice-captain of the Pakistan Test team for the upcoming series against Australia, set to commence on December 14. This decision comes on the heels of Shaheen's recent appointment as the captain of the Pakistan Men's T20 Cricket Team, a role he assumed following Babar Azam's resignation from captaincy across all three formats post the ICC World Cup 2023 disappointment.
In the absence of Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf, Shaheen will spearhead the pace bowling unit, with valuable support from Faheem Ashraf. With an impressive cricketing career comprising 27 Tests, 53 ODIs, and 52 T20Is for Pakistan, Shaheen has showcased his prowess by claiming 105 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 3.08. As he takes on the added responsibility of vice-captaincy, the young and dynamic Shaheen Shah Afridi is poised to play a crucial role in shaping Pakistan's performance in the upcoming Test series against Australia.
