In a nutshell: Indian contingent's first day at Birmingham CWG 2022
In women's Cricket, India lost to Australia in their first group stage match by three wickets. India scored 154 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 8 wickets, India will face Pakistan in their second group match on July 31. In Hockey Women's team started with a dominant performance over Ghana (ranked 30th), defeating Ghana with a big margin 5-0. Here is India's first day at Birmingham Commonwealth Games:
Suicide bomb blast rocks Kabul during T20 match at sports stadium
The bomb explosion took place where the spectators sat in the cricket stands while the match was played. However, cricket players from both the teams were quickly taken inside a bunker. UN officials were also present at the stadium when the alleged suicide attack took place. The Kabul Police Headquarters confirmed the incident but no casualties have been reported so far.
1st T20I: India thrash West Indies by 68 runs, take 1-0 lead in series
A brilliant half-century by captain Rohit Sharma (64 off 44) and final flourish by Dinesh Karthik (41 not out off 19) propelled India to 190/6 in 20 overs, after they were invited to bat first. Apart from Rohit and Karthik, Suryakumar Yadav (24 off 16) was the other main contributor with the bat for India. On the other hand, Alzarri Joseph (2/46), Jason Holder (1/50), Akeal Hosein (1/14), Keemo Paul (1/24), Obed McCoy (1/30) were the wicket-takers for West Indies.

Just after having Alyssa Healy dab to backward point for no run on the first ball, Renuka brought mayhem for Australia, causing havoc with her swing, accuracy and some help from the hybrid pitch as their fab four of Alyssa (nicked to slip), Meg Lanning (sliced to backward point), Beth Mooney (played on) and Tahlia McGrath fell in first five overs with just 34 on board.
CWG 2022: Easy openers for Sindhu, Srikanth as India whitewash Pak 5-0 in mixed team badminton
India are the defending champion in the Mixed Team competition and also the most successful team in the 2018 edition of the Games in Gold Coast, Australia. Both Srikanth and Sindhu had won silver medals in men's singles and women's singles respectively. On the other hand, Pakistan players had not crossed the Round of 32.

Sanju Samson named as KL Rahul's replacement in India's squad for T20Is against WI
Sanju last played a T20I for India in the second match against Ireland at Malahide, making 77 while opening the batting. "The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson as a replacement for KL Rahul in the T20I squad for the ongoing West Indies series," said the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in an official release.
CWG 2022: Shiva Thapa romps past Pakistani opponent into pre-quarters
Playing from the Red corner, Shiva, the lone Indian boxer on display on the opening day of the competition, started strongly and did not give his opponents any chance as he won a unanimous decision for a win on points. The seasoned Shiva launched a flurry of punches at the start of each of the three rounds and was scored as the winner by all five courtside judges.

Since winning the inaugural edition of the Men's T20 World Cup in 2007, India haven't been able to clinch the trophy. In last year's T20 World Cup at the UAE, India went into the tournament as favourites but made an early exit in the Super 10 stage.
