The newspaper "La Nacion" cited a report by the medical commission on the last days of the star issued on Friday, "The conduct of Diego Armando Maradona's medical team was inadequate, deficient and inconsiderate. The patient was left to his fate." Maradona died of a heart attack last year in November at the age of 60. He was recovering from surgery at the time.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been named as standby for the T20 World Cup in case the worsening Covid-19 situation does not improve in India, a top official of the Indian cricket board (BCCI) confirmed. India are due to host the tournament in October-November but a second wave of Covid-19 has hit the country badly with well over 3.5 lakh new cases and 3,000-plus deaths daily over the last few days.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) consolidated their sixth position on the Indian Premier League (IPL) points table after their 34-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday night. PBKS now have six points, the same as Mumbai Indians (MI). However, the Punjab franchise is one spot behind MI due to inferior net run rate (NRR). PBKS have an NRR of -0.264 as against MI's NRR of +0.071.

Rahul, who had won the Orange cap last season, has 331 runs in seven matches at an average 66.2. He has also scored runs at brisk pace. His strike rate is 136.21.

Indian rowers leave for Tokyo for Olympic qualifying event

In the hope of making the cut for the Tokyo Olympic Games, a 14-member Indian rowing squad, including nine players, boarded a Tokyo-bound flight on Friday to compete in the World Rowing Asia Oceania Continental Olympic and Paralympic Qualifying Regatta.
