Kumar Kartikeya, who represents Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket, debuted in 2018 and has so far played nine First-class matches, 19 List A games and eight T20s, picking 35, 18 and nine wickets respectively. He had been with the Mumbai Indians squad in IPL 2022 as part of the support team and has now signed on to join the main squad as Khan sustained an injury and was ruled out for the rest of the tournament.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Mohammed Shami drifted down the leg side to SRH opener Abhishek Sharma twice in the opening over of the innings to concede 11 runs. Left arm pacer Yash Dayal, who came to bowl next over, was struck for two fours by Abhishek as Hyderabad raced to 22/0 after the end of 2 overs.
IPL 2022: Gujarat Titans win toss, opt to bowl against Sunrisers Hyderabad
Gujarat, who have lost just one out of their seven matches in the IPL 2022 so far, didn't make any change in their squad for this game. On the other hand, Kane Williamson led Hyderabad made one change in their playing XI as fit-again Washington Sundar came in place of Jagadeesha Suchith.
