This was India's second medal at the World Championships and the first podium finish since Anju Bobby George won a bronze medal in long jump at Paris in 2003. Chopra's best effort of 88.13m in the final at the Hayward Field was short of Anderson Peters' gold medal-winning mark of 90.54m while Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Jakub Vadlejch won the bronze with 88.09m.

A total of 72 nations are participating in the upcoming CWG. This will be the third time England will be hosting the prestigious event following the London 1934 and Manchester 2002 Games. In every edition of CWG, organizers and the committee decide about removing and adding a few sports. This year the Birmingham 2022 organisers decided to drop archery and shooting and have instead included a few new games.
Swiss Open: Matteo Berrettini storms into final with win over Dominic Thiem
The Italian dominated the pair's sixth ATP head-to-head meeting at the clay-court ATP 250 event in Switzerland, where he struck the ball with power and accuracy throughout to charge to a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Berrettini raced to a 5-0 lead early in the first set and gave Thiem few opportunities to establish a foothold in the match thereafter, going on to seal victory in 78 minutes.
Feels like a win for us: Pooran proud of West Indies despite three-run defeat
After the match, captain Nicholas Pooran said the match result felt "like a win" for his side despite ending up on the losing side. West Indies had entered the series against India in Trinidad after their 3-0 defeat to Bangladesh in Guyana earlier this month. He added that using full batting quota of 50 overs and coming close to 308 were the biggest positives for the hosts.

Bairstow wants to play all formats of the game for 'as long as possible'
In the home summer for England this year, Bairstow is one of the very rare all-format players. He played in Tests against New Zealand and India, playing a huge hand in victories. He then played ODIs against India and is featuring in 50-over matches against South Africa. Bairstow will play the T20Is against the Proteas and is scheduled to play three matches in The Hundred before Test series against South Africa comes.
