MS Dhoni Names Jasprit Bumrah as His Top Bowler

Bumrah was influential in India's recent win of the T20 World Cup in the Americas, taking 15 wickets from eight matches with an economy rate of 4.17, the lowest among the regular bowlers in the tournament. He was finally rewarded for such an outstanding performance as the player of the tournament.

On record recently, legendary cricketer MS Dhoni had labeled Jasprit Bumrah as his favorite bowler, but mum on choosing between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as his favorite batsman.

During one of the promotional events, Dhoni said, "It's easy to pick my favourite bowler because Bumrah is there. It's difficult to pick a batsman because we have many good batsmen. But that doesn't mean bowlers aren't good.".

At present, Bumrah is on leave after the World Cup and was not a part of the white ball series against Sri Lanka. Dhoni explained his apprehension to name a favorite batsman by referring to the high level performance that different players have turned up with.

"It's difficult to pick one among the batsmen as whosoever I see batting, he looks the best. But then somebody else comes and he looks great too. But as long as Team India is winning, I don't want to pick a batsman as my favourite. I hope they will keep scoring runs for the side," Dhoni said.

He, however, remained non-committal on taking part in the 2025 season of the IPL. "There is a lot of time for it. We have to see what decision they take on player retention etc. Right now, the ball is not in our court. So, once the rules and regulations get formalized, I will take a call but needs to be in the best interest of the team," said the 43-year-old Dhoni.

At the moment, teams in IPL are fighting between mega auction rules and the 'Impact Player' rule. Speaking in this regard, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah expressed a "constructive dialogue" with IPL team owners over these issues, and the IPL Governing Council, chaired by Arun Dhumal, will take up these matters for further examination.
