Kolkata Police Launches Investigation into Black Market Cricket World Cup Tickets Involving BCCI, CAB, and BookMyShow

City police sources have confirmed that they are treating the matter seriously, particularly in light of the recent arrest of an individual in Kolkata.

The Kolkata Police have initiated an investigation following a complaint against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), and BookMyShow for allegedly promoting the black market sale of tickets for the ODI World Cup 2023.

City police sources have confirmed that they are treating the matter seriously, particularly in light of the recent arrest of an individual in Kolkata. This individual was caught red-handed while attempting to sell tickets for the India-South Africa match scheduled for November 5. The police seized 20 tickets from him, which he was selling for an exorbitant price of Rs 11,000 per ticket, compared to the official price of Rs 2,500.

An individual has reportedly filed a complaint with Kolkata's Maidan Police Station, accusing the BCCI, CAB, and BookMyShow of promoting the black market sale of World Cup tickets. To protect the complainant's identity, the city police have kept it confidential for security reasons.
