Ravindra Jadeja becomes seventh Indian to reach 300 wickets in Tests as India overcome Bangladesh on Day 4 of second Test at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur. 35-year-old spinner reaches the milestone by dismissing Khaled Ahmed in his 10th over of the first innings.
Jadeja is the first left-arm spinner from India to attain this. He took 300 wickets from just 73 Tests and at an average of 23.98, his strike rate works out to 58.10. Not only has he proved a valuable bowler, he has also been a big bonus with the bat, piling up 3,122 Test runs at 36.72 average. He has four centuries and 21 half-centuries to his name.
Jadeja is the fourth-quickest Indian to 300 wickets in Test cricket history after R. Ashwin in 54 matches, Anil Kumble in 66, and Harbhajan Singh in 72.
All-round skills of Jadeja are not restricted only to Test cricket. In ODIs, he has provided a run-making contribution of 2,756 runs and taken 220 wickets. In T20Is, he has scored 515 runs and taken 54 wickets, cementing himself as a match-winner across formats.
