There has always been a trust element between us," Kohli said, pointing out how both he and Rohit have relied on each other to win matches for the national team.

Looking back on their journey together, Kohli pointed out how their relationship has evolved organically through years of sharing the same field. "I believe it's a very natural process to occur when you play with somebody for such a long period of time and you exchange so much of your understanding of the game. First, you're learning from one another; you're sort of developing in your careers at about the same time, and you exchange all types of questions and questions," he said.

He also mentioned their coordination as leaders of the team, adding that most of the time their talks would coincide. "So there's a lot of back and forth that happens and also the fact that we worked very closely in terms of the leadership for the team.". So there were always ideas being talked about and more or less we would be on the same page as far as what the gut feel of that situation or that game requires," Kohli further added.

The pair's esteemed careers are marked with key triumphs, such as being members of India's winning campaigns in the 2013 and 2025 Champions Trophy competitions. They also retired from T20 internationals concurrently, ending on a high after they won the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup.

"There's a trust factor that builds in terms of you can rely on each other to do the job for the team.". We have had fun playing together so long for India, you know," Kohli said, acknowledging the unusual longevity of their careers. "We managed to make our careers that long because when we were growing up, like I said, it wasn't guaranteed that we were going to end up playing for 15 years for India.

Looking back, Kohli expressed gratitude for the shared experiences and lasting memories. “The journey was so long and consistently (going on). So, very, very, very grateful and very happy for all the memories, all the moments that we’ve shared and continue to do so,” he concluded.
