IPL 2022, Day 48 Highlights: Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings by 5 wickets

Mumbai Indians (MI) on Thursday defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 5 wickets. Whenever the most successful teams in the IPL, CSK, and MI met, we witnessed thrillers. Sometimes the bowlers amazed us and sometimes the batters. This season is not good for both of them, but after a few games, we knew they will prepare for the next season.

In a low-scoring thriller, Mumbai Indians (MI) on Thursday defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 5 wickets. Whenever the most successful teams in the IPL, CSK, and MI met, we witnessed thrillers. Sometimes the bowlers amazed us and sometimes the batters. This season is not good for both of them, but after a few games, we knew they will prepare for the next season. 1. MI won the toss and elected to bowl first against CSK

2. CSK lost half of their wickets in the powerplay. None of the batsmen were able to stay against Daniel Sams, Jasprit Bumrah, and Riley Meredith.

3. Only, CSK skipper MS Dhoni was able to stay and he made 36 runs off 33.

4. From giving 35 runs in a single over to becoming a match-winner in back-to-back matches, that's the journey of Daniel Sams.

5. For MI, Jasprit Bumrah took 1/12 in his 3 overs, Daniel Sams took 3/16 in his 4 overs, Kumar Kartika took 2/22 in his 3 overs, and Riley Meredith took 2/27 in his 3 overs were sensational with the bowl.

6. CSK managed to score 97/10 in 16 overs. 

7. Replying to the CSK total,  MI also lost 4 wickets in the powerplay, at one stage it look like CSK was going to win.

8. However, young Tilak Verma and Hrithik Shokeen built a match-winning 48-run partnership. Shokeen made 18 runs off 23 and Tilak Varma made an unbeaten 34 runs off 32.

9.  Tim David finished the match with an unbeaten 16 runs off 7, ended the match with two sixes.

9. MI managed to score 103/5 in their 14.5 overs and won the match by 5 wickets

10. Daniel Sams was declared player of the match.

Brief scores: Chennai Super Kings 97 all out in 16 overs (MS Dhoni 36 not out; Daniel Sams 3/16, Riley Meredith 2/27, Kumar Karthikeya 2/22) lost to Mumbai Indians 103/5 in 14.5 overs (Rohit Sharma 18, Tilak Varma 34 not out, Hrithik Shokeen 18, Tim David 16 not out; Mukesh Choudhary 3/23) by 5 wickets.
