IPL 2022, Day 47 Highlights: Delhi Capitals beat Rajasthan Royals by 8 wickets

Delhi Capitals (DC) on Wednesday defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 8 wickets. Ravichandra Ashwin came to bat at no. 3 and made his first half-century in IPL. DC bowled, fielded, and batted well. Some mistakes, dropped catches, and bad luck became the main reason for RR's loss.

DC bowled, fielded, and batted well. Some mistakes, dropped catches, and bad luck became the main reason for RR's loss. Here are the key highlights of the game:

1. DC won the toss and elected to bowl first against RR

2. RR lost the big wicket of their openers-  Jos Buttler (7) in the powerplay and Yashasvi Jaiswal (19) after the powerplay.

3. After the fall of their wickets, Ravichandran Ashwin and Devdutt Padikkal built a fine 53-run partnership. Ashwin (50 runs off 38) made his first IPL half-century. Devdutt Padikkal made 48 runs off 30.

4. For DC, Chetan Sakariya took 2/23 in his 4 overs and was brilliant with the bowl.

5. RR managed to score 160/6 in their 20 overs. 

6. Replying to the RR total,  DC lost the wicket of their opener, Srikant Bharat, on a duck. RR bowler, Trent Boult made the habit to take a wicket in his first over. After the fall of his wicket, Mitchell Marsh and David Warner built a sensational 144-run partnership. Mitchell Marsh made 89 runs off 62 and David Warner made an unbeaten 52 runs off 41.

7. Marsh was on 2 runs and there was an LPW appeal, but the umpire didn't give out and Skipper Sanju Samson missed to take DRS and Warner was dropped by Jos Buttler on 21.

8. Skipper Rishabh Pant finished the match with an unbeaten 13 runs off 4. 

9. DC managed to score 161/2 in their 18.1 overs and won the match by 8 wickets

10. Mitchell Marsh was declared player of the match.

11. Brief Scores: Rajasthan Royals 160/6 in 20 overs (Ravichandran Ashwin 50, Devdutt Padikkal 48; Chetan Sakariya 2/23, Mitchell Marsh 2/25) lost to Delhi Capitals 161/2 in 18.1 overs (Mitchell Marsh 89, David Warner 52 not out, Trent Boult 1/32) by eight wickets
