IPL 2022, Day 28 Highlights: Rajasthan Royals beat Delhi Capitals by 15 runs

In a high-scoring thriller, Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Friday defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 15 runs. Another day, another century by Jos Buttler. It's the third 100 for Jos Buttler in 7 matches so far. On the other hand, the DC batter's small knocks took the match too close. They needed someone to stay like Jos Buttler did for RR. Here are the key highlights of the game:

1. DC won the toss and elected to bowl first against RR

2. DC was able to control Buttler and Padikkal in the powerplay. However, after the powerplay, Buttler's beast mode was on. Buttler and Padikkal made a spectacular 155 runs partnership.
 

3. Devdutt Padikkal made 54 runs off 35 and  Jos Buttler made sensational 116 runs off 65.

4. After the fall of Padikkal's wicket, Skipper Sanju Samson played a cameo of 46 runs off just 19. 

5. RR managed to score 222/2 in their 20 overs.

6. Replying to RR total, DC openers David Warner and Prithvi Shaw started the innings with attacking shots. However, David Warner lost his wicket on 28 runs off 14. After the fall of his wicket, DC lost wickets at a regular interval.

7. Skipper Rishabh Pant was able to stay but lost his wicket under pressure on 44 runs off 24.

8. After the fall of his wicket, Lalit Yadav (37 runs off 24) and Rovman Powell kept the score ticking.
 

9. 19th over was a wicket maiden over by Prasidh Krishna. DC needed 36 runs in the last over and Rovman Powell hit three back-to-back sixes on the first three deliveries of that over. It looked like a record-breaking chase. However, the next three deliveries were 0, 2, W. Rovman Powell played an amazing cameo of 36 runs off 15.

10. A controversy erupted in the 19th over when Rovman Powell hit his third six. That looked like a no ball in terms of height but the umpire disagreed. DC skipper Rishabh Pant got angry and called back the players. However, Shane Watson and other team members handled the situation wisely and decided against creating any scene.

11. DC made 207/8 in their 20 overs and lost the match by 15 runs

12. Jos Buttler was declared player of the match.

13. Brief scores: Rajasthan Royals 222/2 in 20 overs (Devdutt Padikkal 54, Jos Buttler 116, Sanju Samson 46 not out; Mustafizur Rahman 1/43) beat Delhi Capitals 207/8 in 20 overs (David Warner 28, Prithvi Shaw 27, Rishabh Pant 44, Rovman Powell 36; Prasidh Krishna 3/22, R Ashwin 2/32) by 15 runs.
