IPL 2022, Day 27 Highlights: Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians by 3 wickets

In a nail-biting thriller, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Thursday defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 3 wickets. When the two most successful teams in the IPL met each other, a thriller was sure to happen. However, this year they both are struggling. MI lost 7 matches constantly and CSK won only 2 out of their 7 matches.

1. CSK won the toss and elected to bowl first against MI

2. MI lost the early wickets of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Both were out on a duck. MI was 23/3 after three overs. 
 

3. After the fall of their wickets, Suryakumar Yadav made some valuable runs (32 runs off 21) and lost his wicket in the very next over after the powerplay.

5. MI managed to score 155/7 in their 20 overs.

5. For CSK, Mukesh Choudhary was sensational with the bowl. He took 3/19 in his 3 overs, in which Rohit Sharma's and Ishan Kishan's wicket was included.

6. Replying to MI total,  CSK lost the wickets of Ruturaj Gaikwad and  Mitchell Santner in the powerplay overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad was out on a golden duck.
 

7. However, veteran cricketers Robin Uthappa and Ambati Rayudu stayed and built under pressure 50 runs partnership.

8. After the fall of their wickets, CSK started losing wickets at the regular interval, Shivam Dube (13) and Ravindra Jadeja (3) didn't do much. However, MS Dhoni and Dwaine Pretorius stayed and played match-winning cameos.
 

9. CSK needed 17 runs in the last over and Pretorius was LPW off the first ball. DJ Bravo came to bat next and took a single in the second ball, and Dhoni hit 6, 4, 2, 4 in the next four deliveries. Dwaine Pretorius made 22 runs off 14 and MS Dhoni made an unbeaten 28 runs off 13.

10. CSK made 156/7 in their 20 overs and won the match.
