IPL 2022, Day 16 Highlights: Delhi Capitals beat Kolkata Knight Riders by runs and Rajasthan Royals beat Lucknow Super Giants by 3 runs

On a super Sunday, we witnessed both high-scoring and low-scoring thrillers. On sunny day when many of us don't want to go anywhere, IPL made it excited for us at home. In the first match, DC defeated KKR by 44 runs. In the second match, RR defeated LSG by 3 runs. The results proved that winning the toss and choosing to bowl first no longer matters now.

2. David Warner and Prithvi Shaw made a great opening partnership of 93 runs. They made the task of their team pretty easy. Prithvi Shaw made 51 runs off 29 deliveries and David Warner made 61 runs off 45 deliveries.

3. After the fall of Shaw's wicket, Skipper Rishabh Pant came to the crease and started dominating. After the fall of the Pant's wicket, DC lost Lalit Yadav, Rovman Powell, and David Warner at quick intervals.

4. Then Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel hit amazing shots and DC managed to score 215/5.

5. When every bowler proved expensive, Sunil Narine took 2/21 in his four overs.

6. Replying to DC total, KKR lost Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane in quick intervals. After the fall of their wickets, skipper and former DC player Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana made a great 69 runs partnership. Shreyas Iyer made 54 runs off 33 deliveries.

7. In the middle overs and last overs, KKR lost wickets back to back and no one was able to stay at the crease.

8. Kuldeep Yadav and Khaleel Ahmed were the stars bowler for DC. Kuldeep took 4/35 in his 4 overs and Khaleel took 3/25 in his 4 overs.

9. KKR managed to score only 171/10 (19.4) and lost the match by 44 runs.

LSG vs RR


1. LSG won the toss and elected to bowl first against RR.

 2. Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal gave a good opening stand of 42 runs. After the fall of Butter's wicket, RR lost wickets at regular intervals.

3. Lucknow Super Giants produced a great bowling performance in the middle overs. They took Samson's, Padikkal's, and van der Dussen's wickets quickly.

4. However, Ashwin and Hetmyer built a great partnership of 68 runs. Hetmyer played an anchor role in that partnership and made 59 runs off 36 deliveries. However, Ashwin declared himself retd out in 18th over. He became the first batter to get 'retired out' in IPL history.

5. RR managed to score a challenging total of 165/6.

6. Replying to RR total, LSG lost KL Rahul's wicket on the first bowl of the match by Trent Boult. The insane inswing came like a rocket and hit the middle stump. In the same over, he took Krishnappa Gowtham's wicket by LPW.

7. RR bowlers were fully fired up and no one from LSG was able to stay on the crease, only Quinton de Kock was able to make 39 runs off 32 deliveries.

8. At the end of the innings, Marcus Stoinis came to the crease and played his first match of the season. He started dominating from his very first delivery. He made unbeaten 38 runs off just 17 deliveries.

9. Because of Stoinis's great effort, LSG fell short of target by 3 runs.

10. For RR, Debutant Kuldeep Sen defended 15 in the final over against Dangerous Stoinis. Yuzvendra Chahal took 4/41 in his 4 overs and Trend Boult took 2/30 in his 4 overs. RR managed to score 162/8.
