With the contributions of debutant David Bedingham's 56, South Africa has secured a substantial lead of 163 runs, primarily thanks to the duo's stellar performance on a sunny day. Despite India's Jasprit Bumrah shining with figures of 4-69 and Mohammed Siraj's brief brilliance at 2-91, the change bowlers, Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur, struggled, proving ineffective in their lines and lengths, allowing the Proteas' batters to score freely.

During the second session, Bumrah's delivery dismantled Kagiso Rabada's off-stump, while Jansen continued to impress with his drives. However, Bumrah concluded the innings by dislodging Nandre Burger's stumps, and due to a left hamstring strain, Temba Bavuma did not take the crease.

The first session witnessed an impressive 111-run partnership between Elgar and Jansen, cheered on by the crowd. Despite early plays and misses, Jansen capitalized on poor lines, securing consecutive fours off Prasidh. Elgar capitalized on the bowling, reaching his 150 with a well-timed drive and an outside edge, while Jansen continued to add boundaries.

India's attempt with the short-ball strategy failed as Gerald Coetzee contributed with boundaries, and Jansen displayed adept stroke play. Elgar's departure at 185, receiving a standing ovation, marked the end of his exceptional innings, leaving the home crowd in applause.

Despite India's late attempts to tighten their grip, Coetzee and Jansen further extended South Africa's control with aggressive stroke play. India faces the challenge of batting resolutely to make a comeback into the match after South Africa's dominant display.
