Pakistan has been gearing up to host the glittering ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, but one thing that remains uncertain is whether India will be there. Scheduled from February 19 to March 9, this will be Pakistan's first major ICC event as host in many years. But not much of a doubt is being expressed over whether India, led by its captain Rohit Sharma, will cross the border to play in this tournament.
BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla has admitted that he doesn't know of any travel plan for the team, and the decision has to come from the government as far as India's visit to Pakistan goes.
"No decision has been taken yet," Shukla told reporters. "Our policy is that for international tours, we always seek permission from the government. It is up to the government to decide whether our team should go to any country.".
"Whatever will be decided by the government, that is what we'll do," he added.
Since the Mumbai terror attacks of 2008, India has not played bilateral cricket in Pakistan. The two countries have only faced each other in ICC events or at neutral venues, heightening one of cricket's most passionate rivalries while largely avoiding home-and-away matches. India hasn't toured Pakistan since well over 15 years, and political tensions have kept the teams apart since then.
Recently Pakistan did participate in the 2023 ODI World Cup held in India in which cricket diplomacy happened for the very first time in seven long years when Pakistan toured India after the troublesome political scenario.
