Despite not playing T20Is since the 2022 Men's T20 World Cup, Gavaskar sees both players as great fielders and assets on the field.
Virat Kohli, who was the leading run-scorer in the 2023 Men's ODI World Cup, and Rohit Sharma, who led the team to ten straight wins in the same competition, are expected to play crucial roles in the T20 World Cup in West Indies and the USA from June 1-29, 2024. Gavaskar emphasized Kohli's outstanding form in limited-overs cricket and praised the duo's fielding abilities.
Former cricketer Irfan Pathan, a member of the 2007 Men's T20 World Cup-winning Indian team, shared similar sentiments, expressing a desire to see both Kohli and Rohit on the field, especially in unfamiliar conditions like West Indies and the USA.
