The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash award of Rs 58 crore to Team India as a reward for their triumph at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The award is intended to reward the players, support staff and coaches, and the selection committee members.
India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in the final on March 9, securing their third Champions Trophy. The win came mere months after India defeated South Africa in the final to claim the 2024 T20 World Cup, their second ICC victory within less than a year.
Roger Binny, BCCI President, said, "Winning consecutive ICC titles is special and this reward is a tribute to Team India's commitment and excellence on the international stage. The cash award is an appreciation of the tireless efforts that go into the background. This was also our second ICC Trophy in 2025, after the ICC U19 Women's World Cup win, and it speaks volumes of the robust cricketing ecosystem within our country."
With Rohit Sharma at the helm, Team India played one of their finest tournaments, coming out with four comprehensive victories to claim the crown. They got off to a start with a six-wicket win against Bangladesh, then an equally impressive six-wicket success against Pakistan. They continued on the same line with a 44-run triumph over New Zealand and finally dominated Australia by four wickets in the semifinal.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said, "The BCCI is delighted to felicitate the players and support staff with this richly deserved award. Their supremacy in world cricket has come after years of toil and tactical implementation. This triumph has vindicated India's number one ranking in white-ball cricket, and we are confident that the team will keep on performing well in coming years.". The commitment and dedication displayed by the players have created a new standard, and we have no doubt that Indian cricket will continue to raise the bar on the international front."
India's win also became history as they achieved the distinction of being the first country to win the Champions Trophy three times, establishing a new milestone in the tournament's eight-team history.
BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla said, "This cash incentive is a gesture of appreciation for the exceptional performances shown by the team during the tournament. The players showed tremendous poise under pressure, and their victory is an inspiration for young cricketers all over the country. The team has once again established that Indian cricket is founded on a solid foundation of talent, mental strength, and a winning attitude.
