ATP Finals: Gonzalez and Roger-Vasselin Secure Their Maiden Victory

Santiago Gonzalez and Edouard Roger-Vasselin revived their hopes at the Nitto ATP Finals by defeating Maximo Gonzalez and Andres Molteni with a score of 6-4, 6-4 on Tuesday, bringing their record to 1-1 in Green Group play.

Although the fourth seeds had faced an initial setback against Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos, they rebounded strongly in their match against Gonzalez and Molteni. The duo showcased a formidable performance, firing eight aces and winning an impressive 94 percent (30/32) of their first-serve points, securing victory in 77 minutes.

Gonzalez and Roger-Vasselin, who partnered for the first time this season, have had a remarkable year, clinching five tour-level trophies, including ATP Masters 1000 titles in Miami and Paris. Notably, 40-year-old Gonzalez is the first Mexican to qualify for the year-end event since Jorge Lozano in 1989, while 39-year-old Roger-Vasselin is making his third appearance at the Nitto ATP Finals.

In their final round-robin match on Thursday, Gonzalez and Roger-Vasselin will face off against Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek. On the other hand, Gonzalez and Molteni, now 0-2 in Green Group, had a successful season with five titles, including a Masters 1000 triumph in Cincinnati.
