Ashwin Praises Rohit Sharma: ‘I have played under many captains but there's something in him'.

Ashwin's absence from the second Test was conspicuous after he left following the second day's play, citing the pressing family situation. Despite missing the third day of play, Ashwin made a significant mark by claiming his 500th Test wicket, dismissing England's opener Zak Crawley on Day Two of the third Test in Rajkot, thus becoming the second-fastest to reach this milestone.

In a heartwarming revelation, seasoned off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has opened up about the unwavering support he received from skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid during a challenging moment in his life. The incident occurred during the third Test match in Rajkot when Ashwin had to abruptly leave the game due to a family medical emergency.

Rejoining the team on Day 4 of the third Test, Ashwin expressed gratitude for the support he received during that tough time. Reflecting on the experience, Ashwin commended Rohit Sharma's leadership qualities, highlighting the compassionate gesture extended to him during the crisis. He acknowledged Sharma and Dravid's prompt action in arranging a charter flight back home, emphasizing Sharma's innate leadership traits.

"When I received the news about my mother, Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid came to my room and arranged a charter flight at 9:30 pm. I have played under many captains, but there's something in him that makes him a leader," Ashwin shared on his YouTube channel. "Rohit has got a good heart. Someone with five IPL titles - God doesn’t give it easy. He should get something bigger than all that, which God will give him. In such a selfish society, a man who thinks about someone else's well-being is a rarity," he added, admiring Sharma's selfless demeanor.

Ashwin's cricketing journey, which began in November 2011 against the West Indies, reached a significant milestone when he became the 14th Indian player to feature in 100 Test matches during the fifth Test in Dharamshala. Additionally, he joined an elite club by becoming only the second bowler after Muttiah Muralitharan to achieve 500 Test wickets in fewer than 100 matches.

India's triumph in the five-match Test series against England, securing a 4-1 victory after a setback in the first Test in Hyderabad, further underscored the team's resilience and dominance in the cricketing arena.
