India secured a thrilling victory over Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I at Pallekele on Tuesday, clinching the series with a 3-0 sweep after winning via the Super Over.
Kusal Perera (46 off 34 balls) and Kusal Mendis (43 off 41 balls) spearheaded Sri Lanka's pursuit of 138, but their innings crumbled in the crucial moments. This forced the match into a Super Over as Sri Lanka reached 137/8 in their 20 overs.
The Indian bowling attack was spearheaded by Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, and Rinku Singh, who all returned with two wickets apiece along with skipper Suryakumar Yadav. The Indians needed only three runs to win the contest in the Super Over.
Earlier, Sri Lankan bowlers did a fine job in restricting India to a modest total of 137/9. Spinners Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana came good for the hosts, fetching five wickets between them. Shubman Gill was the best for India with a score of 39 as Riyan Parag continued to impress with a contribution of 26.
