BJP MP Brijmohan Agrawal on Monday responded sharply to Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha, countering his accusations of the government’s supposed neglect of SCs, STs, and OBCs. Agrawal questioned why Gandhi chose to become the Leader of Opposition instead of giving the role to someone from these marginalized communities.
Participating in the discussion on the Union Budget, Agrawal lambasted the Opposition and said they opposed the budget because they disapprove of the agenda of development that this Government has for youth, farmers, women, poor, and various regions, including border areas.
"The only development they like is the development of “one, two, three, four, five families,” said the Raipur MP.
Addressing Gandhi, Agrawal asked, "You speak about SCs, STs, and OBCs. Did no one from these communities get elected in your party? Why didn’t you make one of them the Leader of Opposition?" This came right after Gandhi's strong critique of the government on multiple issues.
Agrawal also accused Gandhi of leading the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra,’ despite the Congress being responsible for the partition of India in 1947 and the loss of territory to China in 1962.
Mocking the Congress, Agrawal said the party appears delusional, claiming that despite the BJP winning 240 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, they had failed. “The party with 99 MPs is claiming that the party with 240 MPs has failed,” he remarked.
