In a pointed remark, Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha remarked that the allocation of the Purnea Lok Sabha seat to the RJD dealt a significant blow to Congress leader Pappu Yadav.
The Mahagathbandhan, led by the RJD, unveiled its seat-sharing arrangement, with Lalu Prasad's party staking claim to nearly two-thirds of the state's 40 parliamentary constituencies.
Sinha, a prominent figure in the BJP, expressed concern about Yadav's next steps, stating, "What options does Pappu Yadav have now? He recently merged his Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) with the Congress, aspiring to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Purnea. This development is a major setback for him, leaving him with little room to maneuver. There's a genuine worry about whether he will abandon Purnea as he previously indicated."
The Deputy CM referred to Yadav's earlier resolve, "I may leave the world, but I won't leave Purnea." Despite this, Yadav has dismissed the notion of running as an Independent candidate.
The RJD is slated to contest 26 seats, a notable increase from the nine it contested in 2019, where it failed to secure any wins. The Congress has been allocated nine seats, the same number it contested in the previous elections. Additionally, CPI(ML) Liberation will vie for three seats, while CPI and CPI(M) will each contest one.
Senior RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav affirmed, "The seat-sharing agreement has been finalized without ambiguity. Discussions on this matter have been ongoing since January." He asserted the alliance's readiness for the electoral battle, stating, "We are fully prepared and will contest the elections with full force. I have repeatedly stated that the Lok Sabha results in Bihar will be surprising."\
