Vishnu Deo Sai to be new Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh

The BJP, having triumphed in the recent Chhattisgarh Assembly polls with a resounding victory, securing 54 out of 90 seats, had maintained suspense regarding their CM candidate during the campaign.

Vishnu Deo Sai has emerged as the new Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, as declared by the BJP central leadership following a pivotal meeting with the state's 54 newly-elected MLAs in Raipur. 

The BJP, having triumphed in the recent Chhattisgarh Assembly polls with a resounding victory, securing 54 out of 90 seats, had maintained suspense regarding their CM candidate during the campaign.

Reports suggest that the new government may appoint two Deputy Chief Ministers in Chhattisgarh. Outgoing CM Bhupesh Baghel extended congratulations to Vishnu Deo Sai, expressing hopes that he would propel Chhattisgarh's journey of justice and progress as the new Chief Minister.

Vishnu Deo Sai, who clinched the Kunkuri Assembly seat with an impressive 87,604 votes, was a former BJP state chief and was prominently positioned as the party's preferred choice for the CM role, particularly as a tribal face.

His political journey includes roles such as Union Minister of State for Steel in the First Modi ministry and serving as the Member of Parliament for the Raigarh constituency in Chhattisgarh during the 16th Lok Sabha. 

Notably, he held the position of state BJP Chief in 2006, and in 2009 and 2014, he was elected from Raigad to the Lok Sabha, maintaining his winning streak. Additionally, from 2014 to 2019, he served as a state minister in the Modi government.
