Violent clashes overshadowed the INDIA bloc rally in Ranchi on Sunday, with two factions engaging in a heated confrontation that left several individuals injured.
Amidst the fervent speeches of the INDIA bloc leaders to a massive audience, tensions escalated between workers of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, reportedly sparked by underlying issues.
The clash erupted into a scene of chaos as members from both parties resorted to hurling chairs and sticks at each other. Despite prompt intervention by security personnel, injuries had already been sustained by some before the situation could be contained.
The sudden eruption of violence triggered panic among attendees, leading to a stampede-like situation where some individuals were trampled and injured in the chaos.
Sources suggest that the altercation stemmed from a dispute between supporters of RJD and the Congress candidate from Chatra, K.N. Tripathi.
In the midst of the skirmish, Gopal Tripathi, the brother of K.N. Tripathi, sustained severe injuries.
K.N. Tripathi, a former minister in the Jharkhand Cabinet, asserted that the altercation was aggravated by the infiltration of around 10-15 outsiders into the rally with the intention of instigating disorder.
The physical altercation unfolded in the presence of top leaders of the INDIA bloc, underscoring the intensity of the confrontation between the factions aligned with RJD and Congress.
