Vinesh made a hasty decision; BJP will form govt in Haryana, Says Babita Phogat

Within a few days of her induction into the party on September 6, the Congress fielded Vinesh Phogat (30) from the Julana Assembly segment for the forthcoming elections in Haryana.

Wrestler-turned-politician Babita Phogat has finally reacted to her cousin Vinesh Phogat joining the Congress days ahead of the October 5 Assembly elections in Haryana.

Within a few days of her induction into the party on September 6, the Congress fielded Vinesh Phogat (30) from the Julana Assembly segment for the forthcoming elections in Haryana.

Also, Babita on Tuesday maintained that Vinesh's decision is hers, everybody has their own perspective and ideology and the political ground was open to one and all and anybody can come into politics.
Earlier, Babita's father and ace wrestling coach Mahavir Phogat had said that Vinesh should compete in the 2028 Olympic Games to be held in Los Angeles.

"My papa is Vinesh's mentor. Vinesh should have listened to her mentor. A mentor always tries to put their disciples on the right path by imparting good training to them. A mentor never wishes that their disciple goes astray from their path. It is the duty of the mentor to bring their disciple back on the right track," said Babita, who won gold at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games in the 55 kg category.

She also added that Vinesh Phogat took a decision in 'haste' as she had a good chance of winning a gold medal in the 2028 Olympics.

Commenting on her own ticket for the coming Assembly, Babita Phogat added, "I have no regret about not getting the ticket. I work for the BJP's lotus symbol. And whoever gets the lotus symbol, we go among the people and strive, to make the lotus bloom. Looking at the current enthusiasm, I can confidently say that we will win the Charkhi Dadri Assembly seat."

Babita said, "BJP has chosen Sunil Sangwan very carefully as its candidate from Charkhi Dadri. I stand by the party's decision. The BJP will form the government in Haryana for the third time. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the government will be formed with a clear majority.

About veteran Congress leader and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, she said, "He has succeeded in creating rifts within the Phogat family. The public will teach him a lesson; he is only doing politics. Divide and rule has always been Congress' policy. Congress leaders have always divided the nation as well as families. In contrast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi works towards uniting families and the country. The BJP practises 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'.
