In a notable show of solidarity within the opposition alliance, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav demonstrated unity by participating in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra alongside Rahul Gandhi in Agra on Sunday.
Yadav's participation in the yatra comes after the finalization of the seat-sharing agreement between the Samajwadi Party and the Congress last week, showcasing a collaborative effort between the two parties.
The presence of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alongside Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav added further weight to the display of unity, as all three leaders addressed the gathered crowd in Agra, presenting a cohesive front.
During his address, Akhilesh Yadav emphasized the pressing need to safeguard democracy and uphold the ideals of the Constitution, echoing the vision of Dr. BR Ambedkar that he believes has been undermined by the BJP-led government. His rallying cry, "BJP haatao, desh ko bachao" (Remove BJP, save the country), resonated with the audience.
Akhilesh Yadav's participation marks an early engagement of a prominent opposition figure from Uttar Pradesh in Rahul Gandhi's yatra, which is slated to continue until March.
The acceptance of the SP's 17-seat offer in Uttar Pradesh by the Congress leadership last week further solidified the alliance, dispelling any doubts about its cohesion.
