Madhya Pradesh Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya on Tuesday said he has ordered officials to cancel any contract involving Turkish companies that are part of the Indore and Bhopal metro projects.

"We received a complaint that a Turkish firm has secured a contract pertaining to the ticket issuing system for passenger in Indore and Bhopal metro projects. We have asked authorities that if the company belongs to Turkiye, then we should not get work accomplished from such a company," he added.

While he did not mention the company by name, Vijayvargiya asserted the gravity of the issue, terming it "sensitive." He was reiterating the stance of the government, stating, "We have instructed officials that if the company is actually from Turkiye, then the job assigned to him should be withdrawn from it and its contract cancelled."

Vijayvargiya also issued a subtle warning to Turkey's political position without mentioning any country by its name. He said any nation siding with India's enemies must not be forgiven or collaborated with.

The comments by the minister come after Turkiye gave a public expression of solidarity with Pakistan following India's 'Operation Sindoor', a special operation against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), escalating regional tensions.
