On Sunday, the Election Commission of India made a recommendation to suspend Telangana's Director General of Police (DGP), Anjani Kumar, citing a violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), according to sources.
Sources reveal that the ECI has directed the transfer of responsibilities from Anjani Kumar to the next senior-most eligible officer in the state.
The decision by the poll panel follows an incident where the DGP met with Congress state unit chief A Revanth Reddy during the vote counting process.
In a significant turn of events, the Congress emerged victorious in Telangana on Sunday, defeating the ruling BRS party that was aiming for a third consecutive term in the southern state.
This win for the Congress marks a historic moment in Telangana, securing victory for the first time since the state's establishment in 2014.
