Swati Maliwal’s statement recorded at Tis Hazari Court: A Legal Record

AAP Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal presented herself in the Tis Hazari court of Delhi on Friday to record her statement about an alleged assault at the official residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Following Maliwal's statement, the Delhi Police took action and filed an FIR late on Thursday, invoking Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Subsequently, Maliwal underwent a medical examination at AIIMS.In her complaint, Maliwal, the former Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), alleged that Bibhav Kumar, the Private Secretary to the Chief Minister, approached her in the drawing room at the Chief Minister's residence and assaulted her without provocation, delivering punches to her abdomen.

DCP North, Manoj Kumar Meena, on Monday told that a PCR call was received at 9:34 a.m. at the Civil Lines police station. In this, the caller claims himself to have been assaulted at Chief Minister Kejriwal's official residence by Chief Minister's PS Bibhav Kumar.
