Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Monday that the special session of Parliament will witness "historic decisions". Addressing the press outside Parliament, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the vital choices required to propel India towards becoming a developed nation by 2047 will be made within the confines of the new Parliament building.
“This session of the Parliament is short but going by the time, it is huge. This is a session of historic decisions. A speciality of this session is that the journey of 75 years is starting from a new destination,” the prime minister said.
He elaborated on the aspirations, stating, "As we embark on this new phase of our journey, our goal is to transform India into a developed nation by 2047. To achieve this, all consequential decisions will be deliberated and taken within the confines of the new Parliament building."
The Special Session of Parliament is scheduled to take place from September 18 to 22, with a pivotal transition occurring on September 19 when parliamentary proceedings shift from the old building to the adjacent new one.
In an implicit reference to past instances of opposition-led protests leading to session disruptions, Prime Minister Modi appealed to all parliamentarians to participate with enthusiasm and allocate substantial time during this session, adding that "there is a lot of time to cry later".
"I perceive this session as one that is replete with moments of joy and trust," PM Modi remarked.
He also highlighted the success of India's moon mission and G20 meeting during his remarks.
"Shiv Shakti Point (landing site of Chandrayaan-3) has become a new centre of inspiration, Tiranga Point (location on the Moon near the lunar south pole where Chandrayaan-2's lander Vikram crashed) fills us with pride," said the Prime Minister.
"An atmosphere of festivity, enthusiasm prevails in the country, nation feeling a new self-confidence," he said.
According to a parliamentary bulletin, both Houses will engage in discussions tracing the 75-year parliamentary journey, commencing with the Constituent Assembly. These discussions will encompass achievements, experiences, memories, and the lessons garnered during this significant period in India's parliamentary history.
