Shaina NC Condemns Sena MP's Sexist Remark, Calls MVA 'Maha Vinash Aghadi'

A political storm broke out this morning when Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant, making a deplorable reference to Shaina NC's foray into the electoral arena, said that "foreign maal" was not welcome into the constituency.

Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC reacted strongly to the sexist slur hurled by Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant against her in the run-up to Maharashtra Assembly elections, and she also highlighted how the approach of the Opposition-led INDIA block towards women stands in contrast to that of the Modi government.

A political storm broke out this morning when Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant, making a deplorable reference to Shaina NC's foray into the electoral arena, said that "foreign maal" was not welcome into the constituency.

Condemning Arvind Sawant's remark, Shaina NC stated, "I am a woman, not 'maal.'"

She has also accused Mahavikas Aghadi Alliance, or MVA, of despising the ladies and termed it the new lingo for itself as well-"Maha Vinash Aghadi".

Besides this, when speaking with IANS, she talked about MVA and the duplicity displayed by Arvind Sawant saying, "When the election time came up in 2014 and 2019, they referred to us as 'ladki bahan'. But today when we expect a better answer from their side, then they will say bad language towards our person.

The controversy ignited on media interaction by Sawant with queries regarding the electoral prospects of the rival SS nominee Shaina Nana Chudasama, a fashionista contesting elections from the Mumbadevi Assembly seat, vis-à-vis Congress three-term MLA Amin Patel.

When Sawant was asked whether Shaina could contest from Mumbadevi constituency, he said, "Here imported 'maal' (goods) will not be tolerated… Here, only original 'maal' functions, and that is there with us," referring to a smiling Patel.
Shaina also appreciated several women-centric initiatives by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, such as Ujjwala Yojna, Ladki Bahan Yojna, among others.

"We have leaders who respect women. Our president, Droupadi Murmu, is a tribal woman, which is a matter of pride for the nation," she added.

She also sought the silence of other senior MVA leaders by saying, "When he made this statement, MP Ameen Patel was present and was laughing. Where are leaders like Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, and Sanjay Raut? Why are they not condemning these comments?"

The Shiv Sena leader even went to a local police station and filed a complaint to get an FIR registered against the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT) for the objectionable language used by him.
