RSS Decries Rahul Gandhi's Remarks Linking Hindutva to Violence in Lok Sabha

"Whether it is the Hindutva of Vivekananda or Gandhi, it stands for harmony and brotherhood," Ambekar added.

RSS on Tuesday termed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's comment on the ruling BJP in Lok Sabha on Monday as "unfortunate" since it gave a connotation of violence to the concept of Hindutva. Veteran RSS functionary Sunil Ambekar reacted to Gandhi's comment and said, "It is regrettable that people at key positions are trying to link Hindutva with violence."

"Whether it is the Hindutva of Vivekananda or Gandhi, it stands for harmony and brotherhood," Ambekar added.

Ambekar is in charge of the all-India publicity department of the RSS.

In a scathing attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the Lok Sabha, Gandhi alleged that its leaders are not true Hindus as they "engage in violence and hate" continuously.

The treasury benches launched loud protests following his remarks, with PM Narendra Modi charging the Congress leader of branding all Hindus as violent.

However, lawyers that Gandhi insisted he'd only spoken about the BJP, and claimed neither the ruling party nor the RSS—nor Prime Minister Modi—represented Hindu society.
