RG Kar Fiasco: CBI Questions Sandip Ghosh and Forensic Experts from Hospital

Ghosh is being interrogated at the CBI's Central Government Office complex at Salt Lake, in the northern fringes of Kolkata. His grilling is in connection with the rape and murder in the hospital last month of a junior doctor. The CGO complex houses the office of the special crime unit handling the case.

Since Monday morning, two teams of the Central Bureau of Investigation have started separate interrogations of Sandip Ghosh, former principal of R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, and Debasish Som, a demonstrator in the forensic medicine department of the same hospital.

Ghosh is being interrogated at the CBI's Central Government Office complex at Salt Lake, in the northern fringes of Kolkata. His grilling is in connection with the rape and murder in the hospital last month of a junior doctor. The CGO complex houses the office of the special crime unit handling the case.

Som is being interrogated at the central Kolkata CBI office in Nizam Palace, where the economic offences wing is probing financial irregularities that happened at R.G. Kar. Besides Som, Sanjay Vashisth, who was the hospital's former medical superintendent and vice principal, has also been asked to report to the office at Nizam Palace.

The CBI officials raided and searched the houses of all three on Sunday. When Som was quizzed in Nizam Palace in the afternoon, the grilling continued for over four hours. The summons for Vashisth's appearance was issued on Sunday night following the raid.

The central agency is attempting to find any connections between the rape and the murder and the financial irregularities. However, the protesting medical fraternity, consisting of senior doctors, junior doctors, and medical students, has gone on record alleging that there could be hidden facts to the rape and murder. According to them, the girl, the victim may have to pay the price for revealing some hidden but grave secrets about the hospital.
