Roy's counsel had submitted, during the hearing before the court on Tuesday, that Roy had already agreed to delete the adduced controversial post from his X handle. Following this, the West Bengal government counsel assured the court that considering the compliance by Roy, the police would not proceed with the prosecution further and close the case.

At the time of filing this report, Roy's post no longer appeared on his X account, indicating it was deleted.

Justice Rajarshi Bhardwaj, who heard the matter directed that a report regarding this has to be submitted by the State Government to the Court by this Wednesday.

The Kolkata Police had issued a notice to Roy initially on Sunday, wherein he was asked to report before them at the city police headquarters that very afternoon. A second notice was issued following his failure to do so, after which Roy moved the court for its intervention in the matter.

Meanwhile, the CBI that has taken over the case is scanning the crime history of Sanjay Roy, the only person arrested in connection with the incident. The sources revealed that the CBI has found that a number of cases exist where the civic volunteer was either harassing or sexually abusing women, but no such cases or action was taken against him then.

The CBI is also probing the role of Roy's "godfathers" whose patronage may have saved him from disciplinary action, and documents reveal that he was often drunk on duty.
