Rajasthan set a new record for election voting percentage on Sunday, surpassing the 2018 figures with an impressive 75.45% voter turnout. The election aimed to elect 199 out of the 200 members of the state's Legislative Assembly, with women voters taking the lead in terms of voting percentage.
It's worth noting that the election for the remaining one seat has been postponed. According to an election official, excluding postal ballot and home voting, the voting figure stands at 74.40%, marking the highest voting percentage in the last four elections. Female voters outpaced male voters, with a voting percentage of 74.72% for women and 74.53% for men, resulting in an overall voting percentage of 74.62%.
Comparing this to the 2018 assembly polls, where 74.24% polling was registered based on EVM data, this election has shown an improvement. In the current scenario, 74.62% polling via EVM has been recorded, including 75.45% postal ballot votes.
Jaisalmer district boasted the highest voting percentage in this election, reaching an impressive 82.32%. Conversely, Pali district recorded the lowest votes at 65.12%. Other districts with lower voting percentages include Sirohi (66.62%), Karauli (68.38%), and Jalore (69.56%).
Highlighting specific constituencies, Pokaran seat in Jaisalmer district witnessed the highest voting percentage at 87.79%, while Marwar Junction seat in Pali district had the lowest at 60.10%.
The fate of 1863 candidates vying for 199 seats in the state has now been sealed, with the eagerly awaited results scheduled to be announced on December 3.
