Accusing the Leader of Opposition-LoP-, of not raising serious national issues when travelling abroad, BJP National Spokesperson, Nalin Kohli on Monday launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi saying that when on foreign soil, the latter "criticises Indian democracy and praises China". "Rahul Gandhi, as the Leader of Opposition-LoP- in the world's largest democracy, is expected to speak comprehensively on important matters when he travels abroad," said Nalin Kohli.
"Yet, he often praises China without addressing the ongoing issues between India and China. He criticizes Indian democracy on the international stage, even asking why Europe and America are not intervening. These are serious matters," he added.
Reacting to senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's assertions that Parliament is dysfunctional due to a "war-like" atmosphere, the BJP leader pointed out that the LoP himself plays a role in creating such disruptions.
"When Opposition leaders come to Parliament, they come with a purpose. If the House gets disrupted, he is one of the contributors," the BJP spokesperson said.
Nalin Kohli went on to further attack former Congress President Rahul Gandhi for attacking the RSS on historical narratives, saying till date he has not explained why the rich history of this country has not found its place in textbooks.
"Since 1947, during the tenures of prime ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, our history books have focussed on invaders like Qutb-ud-Din, Razia Sultan, Babur and Aurangzeb, but have neglected to focus on golden dynasties such as the Vijayanagar and Chola dynasties and Ajanta, Ellora, or Kailash. Why haven't these aspects of our glorious past been extensively taught?" the BJP leader professed.
What wrong are we committing by teaching some valuable history of India to children? This, Rahul Gandhi has to answer himself whether he wants to keep the future generations in the dark and spoil the name of the country for political mileage," he added.
RG Kar Hospital rape and murder case: The incident was deeply concerning, said Nalin Kohli.
"Shockin' rape and murder of a woman, besides reports of corruption. The resignation of Jawhar Sircar proves that much concern is within Trinamool Congress itself," he said.
He called upon West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to own up and admit her government's lapses while taking stern action to ensure justice for the victim.
