Founder and Chief of Jan Suraaj Party Prashant Kishor on Monday rejected Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's assertion that he would win 220 seats in the next Assembly elections.
CM Kumar's prediction was flushed down by political strategist-turned-politician, predicting the Janata Dal (United) is not going to get even 20 seats.
Bihar people have lost faith in Nitish Kumar and are eager to teach him a lesson in the election. BJP and Nitish Kumar would lose the elections. Public gets irritated with Nitish Kumar's govt, particularly his Officer Raj governance or excessive influence by bureaucrats and a call for accountability," Kishor said.
On that account, Kishor further argued that even if the JD(U) were to back either the NDA or the Grand Alliance, the party's prospects of winning were all but nil.
"The BJP also understands that Nitish Kumar has turned out to be a liability for the political movement and no party would like to favor him," he said.
Prashant Kishor has been an outspoken critic of Nitish Kumar for a long time, particularly after he quit the JD(U), and his comments reflect increasing tensions between the different factions of the political class in Bihar as the state approaches the next Assembly polls.
Further, Prashant Kishor said that destiny has designed a situation where the BJP may be pushed to contest the next Bihar Assembly election with Nitish Kumar at the helm.
"If this scenario unfolds, with Nitish Kumar as the face of the NDA, it would be an advantageous situation for the Jan Suraaj Party," Kishor said.
He even dared the BJP to announce Nitish Kumar as the Chief Ministerial face for the 2025 Bihar Elections.
"I can predict that if they declare Nitish Kumar as the Chief Ministerial face, as it happened to JD (U) in 2020 Assembly elections, they will lose seats to such an extent," he added.
He said that both JD(U) and BJP would get the same public blow in 2025 as people are not satisfied with Nitish Kumar's governance.
He also questioned the fact that BJP was more interested in political considerations of Delhi than the welfare of Bihar people as it had sent Bihar people into the hands of Nitish Kumar for the sake of getting some Members of Parliament in Delhi.
He mentioned how instead of taking up issues related to youths and Bihar's future, the BJP settled for an alliance with Nitish Kumar, which would turn out to be a sort of disadvantage," he said.
CM Kumar at the state executive committee meeting on Saturday said the NDA would bag 220 seats in the 2025 polls-an assertion Prashant Kishor made a mockery of, asserting that both JD(U) and BJP would face defeat due to widespread public anger, particularly towards Nitish Kumar's administration.
