CM Adityanath Declares Total Ban on Meat and Alcohol During Mahakumbh in Prayagraj

The Chief Minister said that pilgrims from all over the world are going to experience the culture of Sanatan during Mahakumbh and that the government is committed to it.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday decided that during the Mahakumbh 2025, meat and liquor sale will be prohibited in Prayagraj, and representatives from all 13 akhadas were present for the decision. The Mahakumbh is conducted under the leadership of akhadas as they are spearheads of Sanatan Dharma, and the state government extends its support.

Talking to the saint community at the Mahakumbh site, Chief Minister Adityanath emphasized that every saint and devotee who came to bathe in the holy Triveni Sangam would be able to see the uninterrupted and pristine flow of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers.

He ensured efforts were on to keep these holy rivers clean but stressed that cooperation from the saint community was needed for the same. The Chief Minister announced that land would soon be reserved in Prayagraj for the 'samadhi' of saints who pass away during the Mahakumbh.

He also emphasized that this advancement would be possible only because of participation of saints and urged one and all to do their bit in making Mahakumbh 2025 even grander than the one held in 2019.

The Chief Minister mentioned the late Narendra Giri Maharaj and said that the construction of a corridor next to the Hanuman temple is being done. He urged every saint to join the campaign for a clean Mahakumbh and asserted that it would be appropriate to avoid the use of banned plastic.

He replied that the killing of cows is a crime in Uttar Pradesh with which one can be given life-imprisonment also. The state government is running more than 7,000 cow shelters which have over 1.4 million cattle. He expressed his desire for the saint community to cooperate with him for cow conservation and further proposed that each ashram should prepare protection facilities for cows and participate in the service of cows.

He appealed to all sadhus and saints to scrutinize the identities of all those who will stay in their respective ashrams before giving a green signal.

Earlier, paying glowing tributes to each revered saint and acharya in the presence of Vedic chants and slogans hailing Sanatan Dharma, the Chief Minister presented traditional shawls to the respected saints.

A short film on the management and arrangements for Mahakumbh 2025 was also presented to the saints.

During this conversation session with akhadas and the saints, representatives said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is a protector of Sanatan Dharma, whose leadership has filled the community with a sense of being honored.

They found that he is the first Chief Minister who personally approached the saints for seeking information about Mahakumbh. He holds utmost importance with ideas and suggestions over the Mahakumbh preparation. The Saints called the Mahakumbh 2025 preparation satisfactory and declared that the event was going to be more grand and divine than ever before.

The congregation thanked Chief Minister Yogi through a message, mentioning the tensions rampant around the world and how Mahakumbh 2025 could be a vehicle to send a message of peace to the world.
