Another chief metropolitan magistrates court extended on Tuesday the remand of former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna — the main accused in a sex video scandal — to the Special Investigation Team till June 29.
Sources said that Prajwal's custody has been given for investigations relating to a new case that the victim, a woman from his hometown Hassan, filed against him.
The names that cropped up in the complaint are Prajwal Revanna, former BJP MLA Preetham Gowda and his associates at Chetan and Sharat. Charges are filed under IPC for 354A, assault or criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe, 354B - Using criminal force on woman with intent to disrobe, 354D- Stalking, 506- criminal intimidation and Section 66E of the IT Act, sources said.
Earlier in the day on Monday, Prajwal had been remanded to judicial custody until July 8 by the court.
The SIT of the CID probing the sex video CD case is getting ready to summon former BJP MLA Preetham Gowda in connection with the procuring and circulation of pen drives containing the alleged sex videos of Prajwal Revanna, sources confirmed to DC on Tuesday.
These pen drives were allegedly purchased by Preetham Gowda ahead of the Lok Sabha election, which purportedly had these incriminating videos.
Sources indicated that Preetham Gowda may be summoned for questioning soon, and there are chances of his arrest also as he is the fourth accused in the case.
Preetham Gowda told the tjMI, "I don't have any information regarding the case that is registered against me. Once it reaches me, I will let the media know about it accordingly. "
Preetham Gowda had made a dent in JD(S) bastion after winning Hassan Assembly constituency for BJP in 2018. He had fought against Deve Gowda and family and opposed BJP-JD(S) alliance. Reluctantly he got into campaigning for Prajwal Revanna.
