On Monday, the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) made a significant move by forming an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu, solidifying its position within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Recent days have seen the PMK, known for its influence in northern Tamil Nadu, deliberating between aligning with either the AIADMK or the BJP.
While PMK founder and leader, S. Ramadoss, along with former state unit president G.K. Mani, advocated for an alliance with the AIADMK, the party's Tamil Nadu unit president and S. Ramadoss's son, Anbumani Ramadoss, expressed a preference for partnering with the BJP.
Sources suggest that the BJP is considering offering a Cabinet position to Anbumani Ramadoss in the prospective government, leveraging his experience as a former Union Health minister.
Political observers speculate that the BJP's alliance with the PMK could yield significant gains in various districts of Tamil Nadu, potentially posing a challenge to the AIADMK in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
