Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday sent out warm birthday greetings to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, as the latter celebrated his 55th birthday.
Gandhi was born on June 19, 1970, at Delhi's Holy Family Hospital as the son of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Congress Rajya Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi.
Posting on X, the Prime Minister said, "Birthday wishes to the Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition, Shri Rahul Gandhi. May he live a healthy and long life."
Some Union Ministers, such as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, also expressed their wishes on social media.
Rajnath Singh tweeted, "Warm wishes to the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi on his birthday. May he enjoy good health and long life."
Posting on X, Nitin Gadkari said, "Sharing best wishes on his birthday to the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and Rae Bareli Lok Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh Shri Rahul Gandhi ji. The day should bring happiness, and the coming year be healthy and prosperous."
Rahul Gandhi's political heritage goes back to India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. He is the grandson of ex-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the son of Rajiv Gandhi, who was India's sixth Prime Minister. His father's father, Feroze Gandhi, was from Gujarat and belonged to the Parsi community.
To commemorate the event, the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) is hosting a big job fair at New Delhi's Talkatora Stadium.
The ceremony, also on Gandhi's birthday, is to feature over 100 companies and multinational organizations with over 5,000 job vacancies offered across industries.
The IYC indicated the initiative seeks to provide young job candidates direct access to employers and secure a job.
