PM Modi Pays Tribute to Sahibzades: A Shining Example of Valour and Commitment to Values

PM Modi has written on a post x that the sacrifice of Sahibzades is an epitome shining example of valour with commitment towards one's own values.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Sahibzades on the occasion of Veer Baal Diwas and said that he wished that they continued to guide us toward forming a more just and compassionate society.

"Today, on the day of Veer Baal Diwas, we will remember the unmatched courage and sacrifice of the Sahibzades. At so young an age, they stood firm in their religion and values, inspiring ages with their courage. This sacrifice is a beacon shining bright of valour and commitment to one's very values. We remember in equal measure the bravery of Mata Gujri Ji and Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Let them continue to inspire and guide us towards making the world a better, more compassionate, and just society."
It was on January 9, 2022, that PM Modi declared December 26 as Veer Bal Diwas to be celebrated in the memory of the martyrdom of the sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji -- Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji -- who were martyred in 1704.
Since then, various programs have been organized throughout the country.

On Thursday, PM Modi will be present at the Bharat Mandap in the national capital as part of Veer Baal Diwas celebrations.

The event will take place in the afternoon. It will focus on children being the foundation upon which the future of the nation rests.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi will launch the 'Suposhit Gram Panchayat Abhiyan'.

It seeks to enhance nutritional outcomes and well-being through the strengthening of nutrition-related services implementation and active community participation.

The Prime Minister's Office, in a press release on Tuesday, said several activities will be conducted throughout the country to involve young minds, create awareness about the importance of the day, and encourage a culture of courage and dedication to the nation.

Online competitions in the form of interactive quizzes will be conducted through the MyGov and MyBharat Portals. Interesting activities like storytelling, creative writing, and poster-making among others will be undertaken in schools, Child Care Institutions and Anganwadi centres.

The Awardees of Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) will also be present during the programme. Among those attending the programme are the 17 Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) awardees that President Droupadi Murmu will confer with a medal, certificate and citation booklet on the honorees - seven boys and 10 girls, according to a statement issued by the Union Women and Child Development Ministry.

The PM will also be speaking on the occasion.

At the time of war between the Mughals and Guru Gobind Singh, the Guru's family was separated after a severe battle near the Sarsa River.

After capturing them, the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb promised to provide them with safety if they were to convert to Islam.

Refusing to forsake their religion, the two younger sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, were condemned to death. They were bricked alive in the walls of a fort in Sirhind (Punjab), becoming symbols of unwavering faith and courage.

Veer Bal Diwas is not only a day to remember the martyrdom of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh but also a reminder of the sacrifice made by all four of Guru Gobind Singh's sons and the courage they displayed.

Their martyrdom symbolizes the Sikh values, including faith, sacrifice and the strength of not faltering in the face of adversity. This day gives homage to their memory along with the values they advocated for, thus reestablishing the Khalsa beliefs and the guru's command.
