Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a heartfelt tribute to Savitribai Phule, a pioneer in the field of education and social reform, on her birth anniversary on Friday and remarked that ‘Bharatbhumi’ has always been proud of its exceptional daughters.
Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi highlighted her significant contributions to women’s empowerment and education.
In his post, he wrote, "Tributes to Savitribai Phule Ji on her birth anniversary. She is a beacon of women's empowerment and a pioneer in the field of education and social reform. Her efforts continue to inspire us as we work to ensure a better quality of life for the people.
In a video post on X, PM Modi highlighted the visionary work that Savitribai Phule did, giving importance to what she left in the world behind: "With the mention of the name Savitribai Phule Ji, one reflects on her unwavering commitment to education and social reform work. She never shied away from speaking truth to power through her advocacy and fearlessness as she opposed obnoxious beliefs and practices. Alongside Mahatma Phule Ji, she has opened schools for girls, as if paving her way for human progress."
Talking about Savitribai Phule's poems, he said, "Her written poetry motivated and confident. She said also to engage one another where necessary."
Further he added, "Bharatbhumi had always been so proud of outstanding daughters, yet her contributions and principles will continually inspire generations more toward the Power of Women advancement".
PM Modi summed up by requesting everyone to make collective efforts towards upholding Phule's vision, wishing that a day should come when education empowers each individual and women lead with dignity and strength.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, taking to the social media platform X, hailed Savitribai Phule's contributions toward women's education and social equality. He wrote: "Whenever we talk about women's education and social equality in the country, the name of Savitribai Phule is taken with pride. She not only made women aware of their rights but also made education a powerful tool for social reform. By eradicating anti-women practices, she redefined the dignity of women. I pay my respects to the great social reformer Savitribai Phule on her birth anniversary."
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, like his counterparts from the Aam Aadmi Party, paid glowing tributes to Savitribai Phule, calling her an icon and praising her work towards the rights of the underprivileged and empowering women. His X post features Phule in this light, stating, "Study to live with self-respect, school is the true jewel of a human being." … Savitribai Phule. Humble tributes to the birth anniversary of Kranti Jyoti, great educationist and poet, the country's first-ever female teacher, and source of inspiration. This great daughter and poet of mother India threw the doors of woman's education and fought vociferously for their rights to alleviate the dejection of Dalits, depressed sections, and working class from age-old suffering without precedent for their contribution in making social justice move.
Savitribai Phule, the great figure of India's reform movement, was the first woman teacher in India and an uncompromising champion of equality and education. She inspired generations of people to advocate for education, social justice, and empowerment.
