Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, spoke to the 16th edition of the Rozgar Mela through video conference and distributed over 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited candidates for different Central government posts.
The mass recruitment drive was conducted in all 47 centers at the same time, and jobs were offered in many important departments and ministries.
According to the official press release, the freshly appointed recruits from all over the country will start working with a wide array of departments that are the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Posts, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services, and Ministry of Labour and Employment, among others.
During his speech to the recruits, Prime Minister Modi stated, "Our initiative of distributing appointment letters to youth in the Central Government is in progress. Today, more than 51,000 youth have received appointment letters. Through such employment programs, so far, lakhs of youth have been given permanent jobs in the Indian government. These youth are now contributing immensely to nation-building."
He continued to highlight the range of sectors in which the new recruits would be posted, reflecting the breadth of their potential impact.
"Some of you have begun your careers with Indian Railways, and several of you will be part of India's security. People being appointed in the postal department will reach the government's initiatives to villages.". Most will be part of the 'Health for All' mission, some will add horsepower to the engine of financial inclusion, and others will further consolidate the industrial growth of the nation. Your department may be another one, but the theme is one — service to the country and 'Citizen First', he added.
PM Modi wished all the new government employees the very best as they start their career.
Highlighting India's two strengths—its youth and its dynamic democracy—he stated, "India has the biggest youth population and the biggest democracy. This is India's dearest wealth and assurance. Our government is toiling day and night so that this wealth becomes the well-spring of progress."
Referring to his recent diplomatic activities, the Prime Minister further said, "Two days ago, I came back from a five-nation visit. In all the countries, the youth power of India was recognized. The deals done during the visit will benefit all Indian youth."
The Rozgar Mela campaign, which commenced on October 22, 2022, is a central pillar of the Prime Minister's jobs drive. Its aim is to accelerate the process of hiring in different government departments and avoid delay in filling posts that might impact delivery of public services.
Official statistics show that more than one million appointment letters were issued nationwide since the commencement of the Rozgar Mela.
This continuous effort has gone a long way in improving public sector efficiency, increasing infrastructure in key sectors like schools, healthcare centers, railways, police stations, and revenue offices.
The new recruits will add strength to different segments of the government workforce, supporting initiatives towards fulfilling longer-term national development goals.
By accelerating appointments, the Rozgar Mela continues to put job creation at the forefront of India's governance agenda.
