PM Modi Attends NDA Leaders Conclave, Proposes Biannual Meetings

At the meeting, he said making a point about the deeper connect his government enjoys with people as compared to the previous Congress-led UPA government, he has received more than 4.5 crore letters in the last 10 years as compared to only 5 lakh that his predecessor has received.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday described the meet of NDA leaders in Chandigarh as the largest get-together of non-Congress political parties post 1975, the year Emergency was imposed and called for holding such a conclave twice every year, a BJP statement said.

At the meeting, he said making a point about the deeper connect his government enjoys with people as compared to the previous Congress-led UPA government, he has received more than 4.5 crore letters in the last 10 years as compared to only 5 lakh that his predecessor has received.
This reflects people's trust in his government, he said.

Addressing the conclave attended by 17 chief ministers and 18 deputy chief ministers from the BJP and its several allies, Modi said smooth governance, fast decision-making and transparency in governance have helped attract investors and investment in the states ruled by NDA.

It is fulfilling the rising aspirations of common citizens, and it has been the distinction of its government to ensure last-mile delivery that has helped in building trust in public towards the government since 2014, he said.

Modi dwelt on the concept of pro-people pro-active good governance (P2G2), emphasising the need for greater interaction between all NDA-ruled states, as also among ministers and MLAs and advocated the use of social media for this.
Prime minister lauded the win in Haryana for the BJP as significant and historic and said the NDA has secured the trust and support of all sections of society.

He said the opposition has tried to give the false narrative that NDA is anti-farmer when the farmer was coming out in large numbers in support of the ruling party. People have given a crystal-clear message that they stand for progress and the good governance agenda by the NDA.

He asserted that good governance ultimately solves the problems of the people and claimed that this solution-centric governance with a focus on grievance-redressal was a distinctive identity of all NDA state governments.

The statement said, "The prime minister complimented the gathering describing it as the largest group of non-Congress political parties post 1975. A total of 17 chief ministers and 18 deputy chief ministers participated in this conclave. The PM suggested that such meetings should be held twice every year."

Six resolutions were moved in the meeting, which included proposals put forward by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to celebrate 75 years of the making of the Constitution of India as "Samvidhan ka Amrut Mahotsav" and Home Minister Amit Shah's proposal to observe 2025 as the 50th year of the "murder of democracy", a reference to the Emergency.

Andhra Pradesh CM and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu initiated the discussion on the concept of "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" and saluted the initiatives of Modi.

On the back of its victory in the assembly polls in Haryana, where political commentators almost uniformly projected a victory for the Congress, the BJP decided to host the meeting of all NDA chief ministers for the first time in many years in the state, whose ruling alliance leaders were invited to go and be present at the swearing-in ceremony of the new state government.

Following a rather subdued performance in the Lok Sabha polls, the BJP would look to build political momentum by winning Haryana ahead of next month's contest against the INDIA bloc in Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly polls.
