Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday underlined the importance of leaders in all walks of life who have a global outlook but remain firmly grounded in Indian values.
Addressing the School of Ultimate Leadership conclave, he said, "We need people who can navigate the global world with an Indian mindset."
Emphasizing the need for leadership that harmoniously combines global orientation with local upbringing, Modi reiterated that all fields—whether bureaucracy, business, or governance—need leaders who can sustain India's national vision while addressing global complexities.
He added that while India is on the ascendance as an emerging global superpower, there is a need to ensure world-class leaders to keep and build this momentum in various areas. Such leadership could be shaped by institutions such as the School of Ultimate Leadership, he went on.
Emphasizing the importance of human capital to spur development, the prime minister urged leaders who are capable of promoting innovation and utilizing talent to its maximum potential.
Referring to Gujarat, Modi spoke about how the state was previously skeptical about its growth prospects because of a scarcity of natural resources. But visionary leadership changed its course. "Gujarat doesn't have diamond mines, yet nine out of ten diamonds across the globe pass through the hands of a Gujarati," he said.
The School of Ultimate Leadership is a new institution in Gujarat that aims to foster true leaders committed to promoting public good, as per an official release.
The two-day conclave is a prestigious platform where powerful personalities from various walks of life—ranging from politics, sports, and arts to media, spirituality, public policy, business, and the social sector—come together to share their experiences and insights on leadership.
