Ajmal's 'animosity' towards Congress makes BJP's life easier in Assam
Barely a year and a half ago, Congress and AIUDF forged a grand alliance and fought the last year's assembly election together. But, after the loss in the election, Congress broke away with the AIUDF. Since then, the relationship between the two parties has become bitter which has reached its lowest point in the past week. Congress leaders have been doing the 'Assam Jodo' since November 1 and AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal has heavily criticized the party's ambitious campaign.
BJP in Himachal promises Uniform Civil Code, 8L job opportunities
JP Nadda said, "A committee of experts will be formed for the purpose and UCC will be implemented in the state on the basis of their report." Eyeing to woo apple growers, who have considerable political clout in at least 20 Assembly constituencies, mainly in the Shimla and Kullu region, the saffron party announced that Goods and Services Tax on cartons will be 12 per cent. The additional tax will be borne by the government.
BJP retains Lakhimpur Kheri Assembly seat in bypoll
The Gola Gokarannath seat had been won by the BJP in 2017 and the seat became vacant following the death of the BJP MLA Arvind Giri in September. Arvind Giri's son Aman Giri has now won the seat. The BJP had campaigned aggressively in this by-election to maintain its winning spree and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had also addressed an election rally here.
Assembly bypoll: RJD candidate wins in Mokama
Expecting the win, a large number of male and female supporters assembled at the official residence of Anant Singh in Patna. Her son Abhishek Singh said: "There was no contest in Mokama. We knew that the battle of Mokama would be won convincingly on the day of nomination. Now the election result proved it. We have done special preparation to celebrate the day of victory. We are offering Rasgulla and Laddu to every person assembled in our house."
BJP wins Gopalganj Assembly seat in Bihar
The win of BJP is a huge setback for the RJD and the grand alliance comprising seven parties in Bihar. Kusum Devi managed to get 70,053 votes after the completion of all 24 rounds of counting. The RJD candidate secured 68259 votes. The two candidates fought neck to neck till the last round and finally the BJP candidate succeeded in the battle. The role of BSP candidate Indira Yadav, who is wife of Sadhu Yadav and AIMIM candidate Abdul Salam, cannot be ruled out in the victory of BJP, say analysts.

BJP increases lead in 6th round in Lakhimpur Kheri Assembly bypoll
BJP's Aman Giri has established a lead of 7,100 votes over his Samajwadi Party rival after the first six rounds of counting.
The SP candidate is Vinay Tiwari, a former MLA. The by-elections on this seat were held on November 3 after the sitting BJP MLA Arvind Giri passed away in September.
EC announces by-poll schedule for 1 Parliamentary, 5 Assembly seats
As per the Commission's schedule, the by-polls will be held on December 5 and the results will be declared on December 8. The Assembly seats are Padampur (Odisha), Sardarshahar (Rajasthan), Kurhani (Bihar), Bhanupratappur (Chhattisgarh) and Rampur (Uttar Pradesh). The Parliamentary seat is Mainpuri (Uttar Pradesh). According to the poll panel, the last date of nominations for these byelections is November 17.
Delhi MCD polls: Voting on Dec 4, results on Dec 7
With the announcement of the Delhi civic polls, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in the national capital. "The notification for the civic body poll will be issued on November 7. The last day for filing the nomination is November 14 and the scrutiny of the nomination will be held on November 16. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is November 19," Delhi State Election Commisioner Vijay Dev said.
