Excise policy scam: Delhi court to hear Sisodia's bail plea today

He was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26 after quizzing him for several hours. Special CBI Judge M.K. Nagpal of the Rouse Avenue Courts sent Sisodia to 14 days of judicial custody on March 6. The CBI was given his remand for seven days before the judge sent him to judicial custody till March 20. The judge had directed the CBI to file.

Despite being in judicial custody for so many months since his arrest by the CBI in August last year, the Trinamool Congress leadership has not announced his replacement as the party's Birbhum district president. This is in sharp contrast to the case of former state Education Minister Partha Chatterjee, who was stripped of all his ministerial and party posts just a week after his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the multi-crore teachers' recruitment scam.
Sisodia to remain in Tihar jail, ED team leaves premises

The Tihar authorities said that Sisodia will remain in jail. The senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader has been arrested a day before the hearing on his bail plea in the matter. Earlier on Thursday, a team of ED went to Tihar jail to question him in connection with the excise policy scam case. The ED sources told IANS that they had got permission to question Sisodia for three days.

Ramesh is the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Science & Technology, Environment, Forests & Climate Change. "The Chairman of the Rajya Sabha has said that the decision to have his personal staff attached to various parliamentary committees was taken after consultations with the respective chairpersons. I chair a standing committee and I can categorically say that I wasn't consulted at all," Ramesh said.

In his address at an event here, he said: "You know the importance of Committees. I got inputs from a number of members and Chairmen of Committees to do something affirmative to improve productivity. So, I sharpened the human resource attached to Committees. I put research-oriented, knowledgeable people so that they can help the Committee members to optimise output and performance."
