In an statement, the New Delhi-based Association said that a convict of the charge of murder of a public servant on duty cannot be reclassified to less heinous category. Amendment of an existing classification which led to release of convicted killer of a public servant on duty is tantamount to denial of justice, it said, contending that such dilution leads to impunity erosion in the morale of public servants, undermines public order, and makes a mockery of the administration of justice.

Bommai also said that the Congress leaders' stand that the government gave away the quota meant for Muslims to others was not correct. There are 17 sub-sects among the Muslims.

Rahul Gandhi, now disqualified as a parliamentarian, was convicted by a magistrate's court on March 23 for his controversial remark, "All thieves have Modi surname," made during a political campaign in Karnataka's Kolar in 2019. Former BJP MLA Purnesh Modi claimed that Gandhi's statement humiliated and defamed persons with the Modi surname.
